The European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM) is a scientific organization founded in 1996 from the European Association of Internal Medicine. The Federation was formed to bring together the National Societies of Internal Medicine of different countries across Europe, and has extended its boundaries thereafter. Currently, EFIM is composed of 48 National Societies representing 45 countries and 65,000 internists . The Federation is registered under the Belgian Law as an international non-for-profit association.

Alongside with its highly ranking educational and scientific events, EFIM launched another innovative educational platform, the EFIM Academy, in 2021 and will continue to put all necessary effort to make the platform a successful one-stop educational reference site for internal medicine practitioners across Europe and in the rest of the world.

The EFIM Academy is a pan-European initiative which aims to respond to the educational needs of the internal medicine community pursuing a high quality, continuous learning objective through modern platforms of learning. The content is designed not only to convey theoretical knowledge but also to teach/improve decision making/clinical reasoning skills. The Academy is the key tool of EFIM for serving the internal medicine community with in-depth and up-to-date information on carefully selected and prioritized topics as well as clinical and decision making skills. Beyond the standard curricula topics, the EFIM Academy covers also e-learning modules providing insights from the field giving an opportunity to internal medicine practitioners of all levels to share their unique views and experiences with a broad audience.

The content is prepared by EFIM with vast contribution of its workgroups, community members and other cooperating bodies. The EFIM Editorial Board is responsible for planning and carefully reviewing all module content for accuracy ensuring that only unbiased & fit-for-purpose information is served via the EFIM Academy. Language editors are responsible for proper translation of the content into selected languages. The content of the EFIM Academy is non-promotional and independent. Most of the content on the EFIM Academy is in the process of being accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).

EFIM Academy is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community, recognizing that diversity in all its forms enriches the educational experience and contributes to a vibrant and dynamic learning environment. The academy believes in the inherent value of each individual and is dedicated to promoting equity and equal opportunities for all students, faculty, and staff.
