The objective of this course is to bring the POCUS technique closer to doctors through a basic and simple content. The course begins with some general concepts of the physical principles of ultrasound, as well as the basic notions to be able to use ultrasound equipment and acquire the main planes. The FAST protocol is continued, widely extended in emergency situations, but whose technique can be useful for the assessment of multiple clinical situations. Chapters 3 to 8 include the assessment of the different organs and systems, as well as the ultrasound assessment of the main pathologies of each one: kidney and urinary tract, great vessels (aorta artery and inferior vena cava), gallbladder and bile duct, echocardioscopy, peripheral venous system, and lung. Clinical ultrasound is a very broad technique that has been developing a lot in the recent years. This course is not intended to give extensive knowledge about POCUS, but to be an initial approach to it.
Dr.Gonzalo García de Casasola Sánchez has collaborated in the preparation and updating of all the theoretical content of the course.
